Figurine Reviews

Welcome one and all to the figurines page. When not in use for game development updates, the blog turns into a figure review site. Isn’t that strange? Figures are listed by manufacturer. Click on the thumbnail of your choice to read a review.

ALTER
A high quality manufacturer that was once under the GoodSmile umbrella. They’ve since branched off on their own and have been very successful. A figure fan favorite!

CLAYZ
They don’t release much and their sculpts are so-so, but they aren’t too shabby.

E2046
A site that specializes in resin recasts. They have a line of high quality pre-painted resins that has become very popular with collectors.

FIRST4FIGURES
A manufacturer based in the UK. They focus primarily on creating resins and vinyl statues of popular video game franchises including Metroid, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda, and Assassin’s Creed.

GDH
Gonzo’s attempt at entering the figure business. They didn’t last long.

GOODSMILE COMPANY
The current king of Japanese figure manufacturing. Their stuff is the absolute best of the best. You can never go wrong with GoodSmile!

HAPPINET
One of the bottom-of-the-barrel companies, though their recent quality has improved.

KAIYODO
A so-so manufacturer responsible for the current action figure boom with figure collectors. Their Revoltech and Revoltech Fraulein lines have become very popular, but have recently gotten serious competition from Max Factory’s Figma line.

KONAMI
Another bottom-of-the-barrel company in the figure world. They don’t release too many PVC’s, thankfully.

KOTOBUKIYA
One of the more popular manufacturers. They’re famous in the US for their statues of superheroes. In Japan they seem to focus heavily on eroge characters…

MAX FACTORY
Once one of the top PVC manufacturers. They’ve recently shifted their focus to an affordable line of action figures called Figma. I wish they made more PVC’s.

MEGAHOUSE CORPORATION
The king of obscure characters. There’s no telling who they’ll make next! Most of my figures are from MegaHouse.

PRESIDENT JAPAN
A peculiar manufacturer who didn’t make anything for a long time, then suddenly whipped out a top quality set of Shining Tears and Shining Wind figures.

TOYS PLANNING
A company that hasn’t produced too many figures these days. Their stuff is lower quality most of the time, but they have a few gems here and there.

WAVE
A company that insists on making 1/10 scale figures much to my dismay. Their stuff’s pretty good…I just wish they’d ditch 1/10.

YAMATO
The wild card. Buying from them is always a gamble. Some of their stuff is exceptional, but others leave a lot to be desired…
