After learning that Del-rey put the Nodame Cantabile manga on hiatus after volume 16 (GRR!) I decided to finish the series in my own way: downloading and marathoning all three seasons of the anime. When they say there’s an anime about everything, it’s true. Nodame Cantabile is…wait for it…a series about students going to music college.
And it’s a romantic comedy, too!

And to my two or three longtime readers I must apologize for the wildly inconsistent art style of the first chapter. First of all, TCC is actually two years old and my art’s evolved a pinch since then. (I really should update more…) Also, I’m kind of in an experimental phase…I’d like to get away from the straight up animu style the comic currently has but am unsure of what the final style will be.
Just think of it as comic growing pains.
And stay tuned, as the comic update again later this week.

Here are some screenshots from the Swanky Penguin visual novel…which will be finished one of these days. In fact it would’ve been done by now but I literally only work on it about three months out of a year. Should probably stop doing that…

I imagine a lot of players will select YES after only reading for five minutes.
I’m guessing most people that read this blog fall into the otaku crowd, so I won’t bother going into detail about what visual novels are. To sum them up bluntly: digital versions of ‘choose your own adventure’ stories. Often includes dating-sim elements.
One of the story’s many idiotic plot twists…or is it?
The story is primarily about an alcoholic penguin named Swanky who lives in a fantasy land where everyone is cute…but a bit off. His romantic interest, a hot dog past its experation date, is kidnapped by a cross-dressing teddy bear. It’s up to Swanky to get it back!
Red eyes are frequently used for evil characters. I tend to give major good guys in my stories red eyes just to break from the norm.
Along the way Swanky teams up with two other freaks of nature. Will he fully be able to trust them, however?
Sums up the game nicely, I think.
The game has been in development for longer than I care to admit (go go laziness/procrastination) and is slated for release later this year. And yes, it WILL be this year. No more slacking. LET’S GAMING.
By far the easiest of the in-game choices. Be warned that not all wrong choices lead to a Game Over…but most do.
Depending on your reading speed the game will take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to finish. That’s if you make all the right choices. Make a wrong choice and the game could end in as little as five minutes.
