NAME: Liu Meifeng
SERIES: Shuraki
SCALE/CREATOR: 1/8, by GoodSmile Company/Red Entertainment
RELEASE DATE: November 2007

Can someone please tell me what the hell Shuraki’s about? All I know is that this is Red Entertainment and GoodSmile’s attempt to compete with the ALMIGHTY MOE FORCE that is Queen’s Blade. So you got a bunch of pretty girls…and they’re all a “Shuraki”, and they are destined to battle? Or something? Ah well. I didn’t invest in Shuraki for the story.

Summon giant fruit!
Liu is a delicious little green-haired woman who seems to like posing dramatically as she swings her adorable pink and blue chakram around. She is the “Chinese Shuraki”…and I’m guessing when she’s together with the Japanese, German, Italian and French Shuraki girls they all form some Super Shuraki Sentai. (Is that how it works?)

I imagine her hair tastes like wintergreen mint.
As with the other Shuraki girls, Liu comes with a small artbook and drama CD. Neither of which I took pictures of. Whoops. Another thing you can do with Shuraki girls is remove their clothing, similar to how you can strip the Queen’s Blade girls. Unlike the QB girls, the Shuraki ones actually wear underwear. So no plastic genitals for you! Liu also comes with an alternate “battle torn” costume. As the name says, it’s just her regular clothes…just BADLY tattered and singed.
I didn’t take any photos of Liu in her other clothing options since taking her apart is really/extremely/incredibly difficult. Putting her back together is just as hard. It seems GoodSmile still hasn’t mastered the art of full cast-off. I remember hearing that the earlier Queen’s Blade figures were also difficult to undress, but the newer ones (such as Tomoe, who I’ll be reviewing next) are a breeze.

Wearing high heels to battle? That’s a little on the risky side, isn’t it?
Liu’s a GoodSmile figure, so that means you’re in for some serious quality. Some will complain about her price (6800 yen), but she does come with an artbook and drama CD. (Not to mention an extra costume) The paint job is very lovely, and ALMOST flawless. I think they got a bit carried away with the pink shading on the white parts of her costume. But her delicious mint green hair more than makes up for that. <3
No need to worry about her one legged pose, either. Liu barely weighs anything so there’s no pressure on her leg.
OVERALL: 8/10
You can expect nothing but the best from GoodSmile. They really need to work on the whole cast-off process, though. Both Liu and Rize (the Italian Shuraki girl) are difficult to disassemble/reassemble…and seeing as that’s one of their major selling points, it’s something that really needs to be addressed. The second set of Shuraki figures has been confirmed, I believe. Let’s hope for better cast off.
