Sara Kodama

NAME: Sara Kodama
SERIES: Overman King Gainer
SCALE/CREATOR: 1/8, by Megahouse
RELEASE DATE: July 2006

I never did get around to watching Overman King Gainer. I did, however, watch the opening animation to it and somewhat enjoyed watching all of the characters do the Monkey. Unfortunately, Sara is not doing the Monkey here…but I guess it’d look a bit ridiculous if she was.

PACKAGING: 7/10

It’s Megahouse’s famous RAH.DX line…now in delicious Sunrise flavor.

All of these Megahouse boxes start to melt together at some point thanks to their similar designs. It’s not a bad box. Looks snazzy enough, yeah? RAH stands for “Robot Action Heroes & Heroines”, and the DX is for “Deluxe”. Hmm.

SCULPT: 8/10

Sara’s reassuring thumbs-up lets me know everything is going to be okay.

Sara’s a pretty simple figure, so there wasn’t much chance of Megahouse messing things up. She looks good. Seam lines are few and far between, and there aren’t any other glaring errors on her sculpt that I can point out.

PAINT: 8/10

*thumbs-up*

Ah, such simplicity. There’s not really much Megahouse could’ve done to make this paint job exciting. The shading on her clothes actually adds some detail to her extremely bland one piece uniform. Other little tidbits of detail includes her painted lips, green panties, and shiny loafers.

POSE: 9/10

Hey Sara, is everything good to go? …awesome.

There seems to be a simple theme going on here. Not that simplicity is a bad thing. In Sara’s case, it’s been working really well. The pose isn’t anything impressive, but it adds a lot of life to the figure. The thumbs-up, the way the hand is placed on the hip, the smirk on her face and the over-the-shoulder glance…it all comes together to make an energetic pose.

What does “Overman” mean?

Typical Megahouse base. Sara comes on a pearlescent white one, with the Overman King Gainer logo embossed on it.

Wait…aren’t those Al Azif’s…?

I wonder how long this non-white panty streak will last?

OVERALL: 8/10

Sara was an impulse purchase. She was on sale from HLJ for a measly twelve bucks. It was a worthy purchase, as Sara’s one of my favorites. Yeah, she’s pretty simple overall, but sometimes simplicity is a good thing.
