Hazuki

NAME: Hazuki
SERIES: Tsukuyomi ~ Moon Phase
SCALE/CREATOR: 1/8, by Alter
RELEASE DATE: November 2006

I do believe Hazuki is the first true loli to grace us with her presence on EBW. She hails from the manga/anime series Moon Phase. I’ve never read the manga, but the anime was about as standard as anime gets. Hazuki fills the role of ’spoiled vampire princess’, though she looks relatively cute and harmless in figure form.

PACKAGING: 5/10

Alter: Great figure design. Boring box design.

I’m not going to lie. I really, truly, honestly hate this box. The design is so boring, I’m not even sure what to make of it. It gets some points for having a cute little nekomimi icon on it.

SCULPT: 7/10

“Luna” Ojou-sama relaxes.

Hazuki is above average, but unfortunately she’s got a few flaws. First of all, there are small gaps where her sleeves connect to her upper arms. Also, only the top of Hazuki’s stockings have detail. The bottom features no detail at all and just sort of melts into the dress. There’s a bit of flash in her hair, too.

The hair is the main reason I was drawn to this figure. I bought Hazuki before I even knew what Moon Phase was!

The dress is very well done, and the way her hair curls at the tips is downright gorgeous. There is one more problem with Hazuki, but this is something only fans will catch: Her pendant…Hazuki’s pendant is normally a green gem with a gold ring around it. However, when she’s overtaken by her alternate personality (Luna), the pendant turns entirely gold. The figure features the gold pendant, so this is technically a figure of Luna, not Hazuki.

PAINT: 8/10

Hey loli.

Solid paint job by Alter, though the shading is a bit excessive on her dress. The small details, such as Hazuki’s finger and toenails, are neatly done. Alter’s always good in the paint department, so there are no worries here.

POSE: 6/10

Ooooooowwwwwww!

Okay, that pose isn’t entirely unnatural, but it certainly is not comfortable to sit with your legs bent like that. Hazuki must be super flexible to feel at ease sitting that way. Also, since her legs are parted, the figure gives off a bit of a loli-fetish vibe.

This shot looks really bad. And I don’t mean quality-wise.

See how the stockings just melt into her dress?

Isn’t this Hikaru’s base?

Hazuki’s another of those figures that comes with a base, but doesn’t need it at all. That’s good, since I don’t think the transparent pink base suits her very well. A purple one would’ve matched her better.

OVERALL: 7/10
Hazuki’s a good figure, but she feels like a pretty average offering compared to the other Alter products in my collection. She wasn’t a big seller so you might still be able to find her online. I recommend her only for fans of Moon Phase and loli fans, though.
