Flonne

NAME: Flonne
SERIES: Disgaea
SCALE/CREATOR: 1/8, by Kotobukiya
RELEASE DATE: July 2006

The Innocent Assassin
Those giant apples sure look good.

For every Etna there must be a Flonne, so here’s a Flonne review to put you Disgaea fans at peace. The poor girl doesn’t get anywhere near as much love as Etna. Kotobukiya makes up for the lack of Flonne love with this charming little PVC…that is, sadly, not the same scale as Max Factory’s Etna! (So much for displaying them together…)

PACKAGING: 6/10
The Innocent Assassin's Box!

It’s a typical Kotobukiya box. The design of this one is really boring, though. Ah well. It does its job.

SCULPT: 8/10
Her body's well hidden. Not that there's much to see...
Flat as a pancake. Skinny as a twig.

Hiromitsu Morikawa is one of the few sculptors I recognize the name of. All of his(?) sculpts I’ve seen so far have been of super-cute moe girls. He does, however, do super duper sugary sweet cutie pie moe girls very well.

Flonne’s a one legged figure, but her crrrazy hair acts as a counterbalance to prevent all of the weight from resting on one leg. It’s pretty clever on the sculptor’s part…at least, I feel it is. In terms of overall quality, Flonne’s sculpt is pretty good. She does have a few problems…

She’s got some really wicked seams in her hair. It’s a shame, really. Aside from those eyesores, she doesn’t really have any noticeable seam lines.

PAINT: 9/10
Flonne's hair is extremely heavy. She's one of the heaviest figures I have!

Kotobukiya tends to shine in the paint department, and Flonne is no exception. The painting on her is neat and vibrant. Her hair, scepter and skin are very nicely shaded. The only reason Flonne loses a point is because of her clothes. While her white costume features some shading, her ribbons and red…shirt(?) have no shading whatsoever. Tsk tsk tsk!

The scepter’s wonderfully done…paint-wise, that is. I wish the damn thing wouldn’t keep slipping out of her hand.

POSE:9/10

Not much to say about the pose. It’s very cute and lively.

A white base represents a pure heart.

Hey, it’s Flonne’s base. Kotobukiya’s bases tend to be really boring slabs of plastic. This is a prime example of one.

OVERALL: 8/10

Kotobukiya’s offering of Flonne is currently the best on the market…not that there’s much else to choose from. (Enterbrain released a Flonne, but it was really shitty…) She’s super cute and very well made, so I highly recommend her…if you can find her.
