Liu Meifeng

NAME: Liu Meifeng
SERIES: Shuraki
SCALE/CREATOR: 1/8, by GoodSmile Company/Red Entertainment
RELEASE DATE: November 2007

Can someone please tell me what the hell Shuraki’s about? All I know is that this is Red Entertainment and GoodSmile’s attempt to compete with the ALMIGHTY MOE FORCE that is Queen’s Blade. So you got a bunch of pretty girls…and they’re all a “Shuraki”, and they are destined to battle? Or something? Ah well. I didn’t invest in Shuraki for the story.

SERIES: Rozen Maiden
SCULPTOR: Bubba

Ah…Boku and Desu. They’re the delightful twins from Rozen Maiden. Don’t let their timid appearance fool you. Souseiseki (the one in blue) is a pretty fierce fighter while Suiseiseki (in green) is a sharp-tongued prankster.

Gwendolyn

NAME: Gwendolyn
SERIES: Odin Sphere
SCULPTOR: Unknown
SCALE/CREATOR: 1/5, by Gathering (e2046)
RELEASE DATE: July 2008

Odin Sphere proved that 2D could still look pretty damn good in this age of “make everything as realistic and brown as possible”. It was a stunning game with vibrant visuals, a moving soundtrack, and one of the most (overly) dramatic stories I’ve come across. Gwendolyn is the first of five heroes/heroines you play as. She’s not only a battle-hardened Valkyrie, she’s also a delicate princess struggling with love.

The Conqueror’s Club is LIVE

Unexpected (or not?) message of the week: The Conqueror’s Club has now become a FULL COLOR WEBCOMIC OH MY GOD! Yeah. Let’s see how long it takes for me to lose interest and go “on hiatus”. Tee hee.

I’m planning on buying some webspace soon so I can get the REAL EmencyBlazer Works site up and running. In the meantime, you can read The Conqueror’s Club here: CLICK ME!

A barebones site, I know. Just put up with it for the time being.

Weekly Ramblings

GAME RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time to seriously hustle on This Is A Terrible Thing so I can have it out by August. After that, I’ll do a short kinetic novel called Little Snow’s Glass Coffin.  That too should be done in August. As you can guess from the title, it’s an adaptation of the classic Snow White tale. Unlike…uh…all of my work, this will actually be a SERIOUS BUSINESS project. No rocket mug riding cocks here.
After Little Snow comes The Conqueror’s Club. I still need to think up a better name for that one.  That game’s gonna require a shit-ton of artwork, so it’s going to take a good amount of time to complete…
COMIC RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I might start this nonsense back up in September. Or maybe late August. Who knows.

FIGURE RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Max Factory needs to stop pumping out Figmas and go back to regular PVC’s.  At this time of the year most people shit bricks over E3, but I am eagerly awaiting the 2008 Summer Wonder Festival.  It’s just around the corner~! Also, I’ve got two orders at e2046 that are due to be released soon. Maybe I’ll get back into doing reviews.
PERSONAL RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Much to my dismay, I have completed Killer 7. I don’t know where to go from here!

- Where’s my damn Nia portraits book?!

Weekly Ramblings

GAME RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Script work on The Conqueror’s Club has officially begun.
COMIC RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nope, nothing yet.

FIGURE RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No figure news either. Straight up, this is a slow week.
PERSONAL RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- No More Heroes has been completed. Straight up, Suda51 doesn’t make games. He makes experiences. I was so impressed with NMH I went out and bought Killer 7 and Contact.

- That brings us to Killer 7 which is, without a doubt, the most fucked up game I’ve played. I’d go so far to call it my digital version of hell. I’ve always been disturbed by low polygon 3D models for some weird reason…so the graphical style is really freaking me out. Then there are all of these invisible zombie bastards cackling as they explode in my face. It doesn’t help that you play as a schizophrenic assassin haunted by the ghosts of people he killed. Straight up, Travis Bell says “straight up” a lot. And why does that disembodied head keep making pleasant conversation with me? I shot the afro, but now there’s this super sentai team after my ass? Straight up, this game is weird.

Character Profiles - This Is A Terrible Thing

Well, the release of This Is A Terrible Thing isn’t too far off, so it’s probably wise to let you in on the key players of the story. Unfortunately I don’t have any pics to go along with this post because I’m too lazy to make them. Ah well. Read on for some juicy information.

Weekly Ramblings

GAME RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Script work for This Is A Terrible Thing continues! I’ve got no idea how many game overs I’m going to stick in the game. Maybe as many as possible? I’m not planning on making it long, so I suppose having lots of BAD ENDS will lengthen the play time.
I was thinking of doing some character profiles…I guess I’ll devote one blog post to each major character.
As for The Conqueror’s Club, progress on that continues as well. The five main characters have all been named, as well as several of the minor characters. At the moment, the game is probably going to have two major story paths: the Pisalgo path, and the Sango Nana path.
COMIC RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just can’t get motivated to work on the prologue…so I’m probably going to scrap the comic version of the prologue. (The visual novel version will still be done. The story’s gotta be told somehow) From this point on I’ll jump ahead to chapter 1.

FIGURE RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I acquired Rize, who I’ve already damaged (broken peg ARGH). I also placed a pre-order for Alter’s Elizabeth from Persona 3 figure. Elizabeth! Another review coming soon.
PERSONAL RAMBLINGS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- MY POKEMON RANCH came out today. Did I buy it? …yes. It’s a pretty pointless Wiiware title. You use it to store Pokemon. You can watch them frolic, interact with each other and your Miis, and take photos of them. (I find it amusing that my Ninetales feels the need to set everyone else on fire) The big deal about My Pokemon Ranch is that Mew is obtainable…but only after you bring 999 Pokemon to the ranch.

- I also got the Gurren Lagann Yoko portraits book, which was definitely worth the 1800 yen price tag. Half of the book is loaded with delicious new Yoko artwork, while the other half is…full of stuff I can’t read. But hey, it’s Gurren Lagann! I can’t wait to get the Nia portraits book due out later this month.

- I also got Tales of Destiny: Director’s Cut which was on sale at Play-Asia for twenty bucks. Twenty bucks! Unfortunately the game’s sold out now. Wah wah~
